Sara Hammond is starting to shoot with confidence from the field for the University of Louisville women’s basketball team but it was her four consecutive free throws within the final three minutes that pulled UofL ahead to stay in a 57-54 win over St. John’s Sunday. She hit five of 10 field goal attempts and claimed eight rebounds.

Antonita Slaughter continues to excel despite collecting major press clippings during the week, leading all scorers with 22 points in a game witnessed by 11,543 fans at the KFC Yum! Center.

  1. This team has been devastated by injuries and still keep going. I hope they are healthy come tourney time this could be a special season.

  2. Anyone who needs a Cards “fix” should come out and watch the Lady Cards play. They are the real deal, having lost only 4 this season, and that is without being full-strength. Yesterday, only 9 players, but their defense was outstanding. Such a great environment also, in the KFC Yum! Center, so family-friendly. Go Cards!
