One more year and all of the University of Louisville football scheduling problems will be resolved.

How about Notre Dame?

The Irish will be on Louisville’s schedule during the 2014 season, the first year for UofL in the Atlantic Coast Conference. That’s according to a tweet by Brian Hamilton, the Chicago Tribune beat writer for Notre Dame, and repeated on the Sports Illustrated web site.

Hamilton apparently got the word directly from Jon Miller, president of sports programming for NBC, which has extended its TV contract with Notre Dame through the 2025 football season.

Other UofL opponents from the ACC that season are expected to include Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina State, Syracuse, Boston College, Wake Forest and Virginia.

Wow.

Miller also indicated that some of Notre Dame’s games will be moved to prime network viewing times (8 p.m. to 10 p.m.), presumably to maximize the ratings potential. NBC broadcasts all of Notre Dame’s home games while ESPN does ACC games. Since Notre Dame isn’t an all-sports member, that means the game will probably be in South Bend.

Acceptance into the ACC is already reaping enormous dividends. They’re only going to keep coming. That smile on Tom Jurich’s face is going to be frozen in place. Where are those stadium expansion plans anyway?
