Now we know why Charlie Strong didn’t mention Michaelee Harris during his remarks at the University of Louisville’s Kickoff Luncheon.

The U of L football coach rattled off a list of wide receivers, not mentioning his four-star recruit. He was obviously still awaiting word on Harris’ status following a knee injury during a non-contact practice drill Monday.

The ailment is a torn posterior cruciate, similar to the one experienced by Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints during his 12th game in the 2007 season.  He returned as a starter in the opening game of the following season.

According to Intelihealth:

Most athletes with PCL injuries who are treated without surgery return to their sport at their pre-injury activity level after rehabilitation.

Among people who have surgical reconstruction of the PCL, most are able to return to their pre-injury level of physical activity within three years after surgery.

If that be the case, one would hope surgery is not required.

The new loge and suite section of the east side of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium now has a name. Henceforth, it will be known as the PNC Club. The sponsoring bank is the successor to two former Louisville banks, Citizens Fidelity Bank & Trust and First National Bank.[/stextbox]

  1. As a former employee of Brown & Williamson, I hope the naming rights never expire. I made a suggestion when I was there that B&W make a major contribution during the fund raising effort. Everybody in the meeting had a good laugh, B&W sponsoring a college football stadium? No way. But then a couple of months later, I was on a corporate jet with just me and the chief executive officer, telling him that B&W could be a hero in the community by helping to ensure the success of the stadium. Two or three weeks later, Malcolm Chancey showed up at the B&W Tower with the architectural renderings in hand. That may have been a coincidence but I like to think that my urging made a difference.

Numerous former B&W employees are season ticket holders and the company always purchased corporate boxes and made significant contributions to the university on other fronts, including to the general fund and to the Mitch McConnell Center. The name should stay, as far as I am concerned.

  2. Curious if anyone knows when Brown & Williamson’s naming rights for the west side “Club” expires? I would think there would be “Strong” competition for naming rights for that venue, as often as its name gets mentioned with all the events associated with the site.
