Julie McDonnell, wife of University of Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell, is escorted from the field after throwing out the first pitch Tuesday at the U of L-Indiana baseball game. Julie also is involved with the local Gilda’s Club, an organization of cancer survivors, and Cancer Awareness Night was observed at the game.

U of L lost the game, 5-3, the sixth consecutive loss and the longest losing streak since McDonnell arrived in Louisville five years ago. Only one starter, Ryan Wright, is batting over 300. Things will definitely get better for this 20-16 team.

  1. The “deadening” of the bats used in college baseball this year has had an effect on the offensive part of the game.
