Just who is the pressure on in the Commonwealth Stadium contest between University of Louisville and Kentucky? Certainly not the team in red. U of L is predicted to lose, “not a very good football team,” according to the head coach whose team is in the belly of the beast.
The wedgie here is squarely in the blue nation’s boxer/briefs. Lose Saturday to the underdog Cardinals and the grumbling reaches Metallica levels in Fayette County and points east. A loss to “little brother,” the Big East and the dreaded city west on I-64 is the equal of walking into a briar patch in a thong.
Pain and suffering.
That sense of potential frustration has reached boiling point in Lexington. There will either be a massive sigh of relief around 10 p.m. or a collective muttering of “we’re a basketball school” at Sunday morning church services.
No pressure, Charlie Strong. Check the blood pressure, Joker Phillips.
