Emmanuel Yeager has been the big topic among fans who keeps close tabs on football recruiting. He’s made a verbal commitment to the University of Louisville. Seems to have exceptional passing skills to go with mobility.

Some have said the senior quarterback from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C. reminds them of an elusive West Virginia Yeager quarterback but he sounds more like a Stefan Lefors, with good decision-making and passing skills to go with decent speed. Here’s what ESPN says about him:

“Yeager reminds us a little of a right-handed Pat White. He has adequate size, a lean build and may not be quite the runner White is, but he is a very accomplished passer. One of the things that stands out on tape is that he is a passer first, runner second and he isn’t just sitting in the shotgun dinking and dunking. He is well versed in the three and five step passing game as well as play-action and does a very good job with drop speed, footwork and balance in his set up.

“Has a live arm and a whip-like release that is smooth and over-the-top. He gets rid of the ball quickly and shows good RPM’s on all throws. Is capable of putting some mustard on it when throwing the ball vertical or outside of the numbers and is a very good deep ball thrower both in timing and accuracy. Shows good ball handling skills and sells fakes well. Is dangerous on naked bootlegs and misdirection where he can get out on the perimeter and become a dual-threat. Throws very well on the run, especially to his right. He can buy time, shows good initial burst and change-of-direction skills in the pocket and can create something if protection breaks down. Isn’t an exceptional runner, but good enough and will make you defend him as a runner.”

Yeager told Scout back in November: “On the football side of things, I’ll look at the offensive styles that the teams use. I want to go to a school that is good in football, but the degree is going to mean something. The ball will go flat eventually; you can’t play this game forever.”
