My writing has taken a dip in recent weeks. I was tired of writing nothing but negative stuff about University of Louisville athletics. So I wrote nothing. It seemed as though I’d find a way pooh pooh any wins by most of the teams.

Thanks to coaches Jeff Walz women’s basketball and Dan McDonnell in baseball, the end of March was more tolerable. Men’s basketball coach Kenny Payne has turned a corner with recruiting. That’s not mentioning football spring practice and the Brohm squad. It’s time that this athletic department did an about face. There are so many reasons the Cardinals have been on the back burner for some. But hope springs eternal.

Walz gave it to ESPN in his post game news conference in a nice way. He’s right. The Cards werere in the Elite Eight for the sixth straight year. On the worldwide Sports Leader they promote who and what they want. It’s not all bad. I’m convinced Lamar Jackson’s performance against Syracuse in a Friday night ESPN game was a key to his earning the Heisman Trophy.
