Going into the season, many fans said they just wanted to see improvement in their football team. Actually, they want the University of Louisville to win every game. But that’s beside the point.

Josh Chichester was a good example of a player getting better in the Arkansas State game. Four receptions for 66 yards, raising his total to seven and 101 yards for the season.

A couple of those Chichester catches were clearly in the Wow! category.

Chichester, a 6-foot-9 tight end, had been catching a lot of grief from the coaching staff during practice sessions, Coach Charlie Strong wondering aloud at one point during summer camp whether “the tall guy can catch the ball.”

Too soon to conclude that Chichester has arrived. But he may finally be getting the hang of it.

If the drought continues, conditions are right for breaking the 50,000-plus attendance milestone a third time this season Saturday, with fewer than 500 tickets available for the Memphis game at 2 p.m. UM returned a portion of its ticket allotment on Friday.

Less than 1,500 tickets remain for the Cardinals’  nationally televised Big East opener against Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 15

  1. He needs to cut down on the penalties before he arrives, but definitely better improvement on catching and holding onto the ball.
