Drying out dining room and basement carpets, dealing with insurance, picking up the car from the garage, all the while ridding Barbara’s computer of a nasty anti-virus protection virus (thanks to some good folks in India), kept the observer’s nose ensnarled in the nitty gritty of life all day Monday.

University of Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell would confirm that one must persevere in life’s storms, his team currently mired in a five-game losing streak, with a mediocre 20-15 won-lost record. His team takes on Indiana at 6 p.m. Tuesday and the weatherman is predicting another round of bad stuff.

But remember, during one of the rainiest spring seasons in Louisville history last year, U of L did not postpone or cancel a single home game. McDonnell can work wonders with the weather and baseball teams. He has yet to declare a bridge season.

Back to the basement, guys. Then to Jim Patterson Stadium, with an eye on the skies.
