One of the traditional benefits of being a University of Louisville baseball fan has been that no admission was charged for the games. That has changed, changed for one game anyway, that game being the U of L-Kentucky  game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Why? Because the Athletic Department can. The stadium will be packed because of the hype that surrounds a major event involving U of L and UK. Tickets for this game are $5 per person

We’ll just have to wait and see on beer and hot dogs, normally $1 each for other games.

U of L reported Sunday evening that (normally free) reserved seats are sold out but that general admission seats were still available.

The Baseball Cards completed a three-game sweep over the University of Pittsburgh on Sunday with a 7-3 win over the visitors. The three wins moved the Cards into a tie for third place with St. John’s, two games behind South Florida and West Virginia.

After the Kentucky game, Louisville will travel to Rutgers this weekend for a three-game series.  The conference standings:

Sonja Update — Warren East’s Ashley Raines, one of the four incoming recruits for Jeff Walz, tied Adia Mathies, of Iroquois High, for Kentucky’s Miss Basketball.

The 6-foot-3 center averaged 27.3 points this year and 16 rebounds while shooting 58.6%. Raines is a dominant inside player that goes to the boards with power on both ends of the court and averaged over 20 points a game since her freshman year at Warren East.  She could contend for valuable minutes in the post with Tise Wright, Keisha Hines and Gwen Rucker.

Junior Antonia Slaughter, another U of L commitment, also was selected for the first team and is considered one of the front-runners for the 2010 Miss Basketball. She plays at Christian Academy.
