Attention Louisville Fans Twisted In Knots

By Tom Stosberg

Lots of University of Louisville fans have watched Brian Kelly this season a time or two on ESPN and, wow, is this guy bringing fun to Cincinnati football or what?

U of L fans can hardly wait until we get back on top and start having fun like that again. And don’t think for a minute that Tom Jurich isn’t anxious to be having that kind of fun again. You can bet your season tickets he would.

But unfortunately, TJ recently released a statement that got some fans’ Fruit-of-the-Looms all twisted up in a granny knot. They somehow mistakenly assumed that Jurich was going to let Steve Kragthorpe screw around with our precious program for another year or two until he fumbled his way into 6-6 or 7-5 and a shot at the Bob Vance Refrigeration Bowl in Scranton.

WRONG.

I promise you, there will be no more struggling, scowling, no more press conferences full of false humility and long streams overly technical football minute details devised to prove that SK is a football wizard.

One more thing. About this “pedigree” that I’m so sick of hearing about I could develop a serious rash. The real deal is: SK and his father together, a total of 17 years of head coaching, 13 losing seasons and a combined record of 83-108-2. No fun there.

Yeah, football stinks this year. Love the players, love the game but I have lost all confidence in this Kragthorpe (lack of) leadership. Now, for the good news!

The University of Louisville Womens Basketball team starts the season on Sunday, Nov 1st with an exhibition game against Northern Kentucky University. Tipoff is 2 p.m. Please come out and support your 2009-10 Lady Cards hoops team!

    Go you Lady Cards!

I still love the players but I no longer love the game. Can you say root canal without anesthetic? Thanks Krag.

Watching Kragthorpe’s post game comments online I saw a coach completley at ease with what just happened on the football field. No anger, a little humor in addressing the quarterback situation and a complete acceptance that Cincinnati was clearly the better team. He looked and talked like a coach that has been told that he is either definitely coming back or definitely getting fired. Hopefully the latter.

Bob being the little brother of legendary UofL and Ky. Colonels announcer Van Vance?

UofL simply doesn’t have a high enough BCS ranking or coference standing to go to the Van Vance Show You Can Dance and Make ROMANCE Bowl, sponsored by Viagra and Dr. Scholl’s. (I’m either making whoopie or walkin’ outta here…)

I have a feeling that U of L is going to lose to Arkansas State, WVA, Syracuse, and South Florida…and then a win against Rutgers.

My prediction – Arkansas State will win the game and will have more than 200 rushing yards against the Cards. Why? Top Ten Reasons: 1) Reggie Arnold averages more than 5 yards/carry 2) Arnold is going for his fourth 1,000 yard season – motivated 3)Arkansas St’s QB (Leonard) can run – 120 yards last week 4) Arkansas St. is better than their record; 5) They only lost to Iowa by three 5)U of L can’t stop anybody – given up 79 points in the last two weeks 6-10) Our coaching staff.

Believe it or not, I remain a loyal fan…and also realist. Go Cards.
