Another Sunday, another disappointing loss for University of Louisville baseball.

The fourth Sabbath loss in a row and the fourth missed opportunity to sweep a Big East opponent. After losing to UConn 7-4, the Cards are in second place, two games behind St. John’s as the season enters the stretch.

The Cards would blow a one-run lead going into the ninth inning, losing 7-4 to third place Connecticut.

Usually reliable Matt Koch, seeking to preserve a 4-3 lead, would hit his first batter and give up four hits and four runs during the disastrous ninth. Derek Self, who allowed one hit, was lifted after getting U of L out of another jam in the eighth.

Nine league games and three Sundays remaining during the regular season.

Debbie Batliner, with Ron Miller, might have enjoyed seeing her nephew Derek Self on the mound in that ninth inning.
