Relax for now.

There won’t be any bad news concerning Clint Hurtt this week. Probably not before the national football signing day, Wednesday. Feb. 6. Maybe not for a long time.

Hurtt will have at least a couple of unfettered weeks to wrap up this year’s class for the University of Louisville football program before dealing with allegations of recruiting improprieties while he was at Miami.

The Associated Press is reporting that the NCAA has found “a very severe issue of improper conduct” committed by former members of its own enforcement program, and will not deliver the notice of allegations until an external review is completed.

“I am deeply disappointed and frustrated and even angry about these circumstances,” said Mark Emmert, president of the NCAA who also described it as “a shocking affair.”

The organization has hired a law firm to review the activities of a former investigator in the case. The NCAA expects the review to be completed in two weeks, which would be warp speed for a law firm.

The findings could possibly jeopardize the entire process, subjecting the organization to litigation and a further loss of credibility. This isn’t going to be resolved quickly.

Just a gut feeling here that Clint Hurtt won’t be going anywhere, no matter when the investigation is concluded.
