The University of Louisville soccer team keeps knocking on the national championship door. Will this be the next UofL program to win a gold medal? This year?

Ken Lolla has reportedly recruited the best class in UofL history, he needed to after losing Andrew Farrell, Paolo DelPiccolo and Greg Cochrane in the Major League Soccer draft last season. That team was ranked No. 7 nationally, posted a 14-5-1 record and advanced to the Elite Eight before bowing to No. 2 Maryland.

Louisville added  six transfers and four highly-touted recruits during the off season, including the DeGraffenreidt twins, Jeremy and Michael, who starred at Baltimore’s Loyola High School last season. Jeremy, a forward, finished his senior season with 18 goals and 20 assists while his brother Michael, a mid-fielder, was named to the Maryland all-state team as a defender.

The season begins at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park on Thursday against Lindsey Wilson, the national runner up in NAIA championship game last season. They then host the University of Michigan on Sunday at 7 p.m.
