Madison Square Garden will be the site for a long-awaited resumption of competition between the University of Louisville and Indiana basketball programs.

The teams will meet in the Jimmy V Classic on December 9, 2014, according to details of a contract revealed by the Indianapolis Star, which had filed an open records request to nail down the information.

IU spokesman J.D. Campbell confirmed that the Hoosiers will play in the Jimmy V Classic. But, he added, “Usually a matchup is announced by ESPN, and until the event is finalized by ESPN, it would be premature to say any matchup is official.”

A contract is a contract. Now get to work on football. Competition in both sports makes too much sense.

  1. A basketball game between Louisville and Indiana is long overdue. I was sorry they didn’t meet in the NCAA this year. Would have made the championship that much sweeter.

I love the new look of the site, Charlie. Good job.
