Unbelievable, the inconceivable run was for real. Implausible it seemed, unimaginable, improbable, unthinkable, mind-boggling.
UConn in the NCAA winner’s circle, cutting the nets, lifting the trophies. Kentucky the runner up, having come together when it counted, coming close, but falling short.
Congratulations to the Huskies, congratulations to the American Athletic Conference, congratulations to all underdogs everywhere.

If only Russ Smith had made his 9 missed free throws and our entire team had shot the free throw better against UK, but they did not! Free throw shooting always seems to a Rick Pitino coached team weakness.
It is all about who plays best for six games, isn’t it, and as you point out we failed that test,(particularly at the stripe).

I hated to see that Louisville recruit Michal Cekovsky commited to Maryland. Thought he could help fill the void of Montrezl. Now I’m thinking the unimaginable, improbable, unthinkable, unbelievable, unlikely outcome – Montrezl comes back for one more year! Maybe Cekovsky was told as much, which is way he commited to Maryland. Crazy, I know, but who would’ve thought two weeks ago that UCONN would be national champs??
I will not be making much of our record versus U Conn; I remember how bitterly I took Ralph Sampson’s taunts about us replaying his Virgina squad, (a regular season loss for U of L), for the real title after we’d won the tourney. They won when it counted, nothing says you have to win them all. And, bringing up our in-season dominance can work both ways as it can be said that we stopped improving while U Conn continued to get better.
