Just when one concludes that the University of Louisville baseball facility is among the best, the school makes it even better.
Jim Patterson Stadium has a brand new playing field. Well, not really. New turf has been installed since the end of the regular season and the Cardinals second trip to the College World Series in the past six years.
The first impression is striking, mesmerizing, just as it is as Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium where the football team opens in two weeks. Like a three-dimensional photo, it draws one in, inviting the viewer onto the canvas or onto the field. This particular photo, courtesy of Howie Lindsey, at CardinalSports.com.
Sorry, guys, that is sacred ground, reserved for baseball and football players. Recruiting had to have just gotten a little easier. Who wouldn’t want to play on that surface?
Another good reason is that new FieldTurf service is cooler, according to Tom Jurich, vice president of athletics.
““The FieldTurf CoolPlay system offers a cooler playing surface to improve the safety of our players for football,” says Jurich. “Also, we feel the FieldTurf DoublePlay Classic baseball system plays more like a natural ball field than anything else we have seen.”
Just another wow factor in TJ’s growing portfolio of campus facilities. Is he having fun or what?
