Good Ship Kragthorpe
To the tune of Shirley Temple’s ‘Good Ship Lollipop’
By Sonja Sykes
On the good ship Steve Kragthorpe
There’s a great big wish and a lot of hope
That they’ll turn it around.. and sail into a bowl town.
There’s been chances and they’ve fallen short
And a definite loss of fan support…
But the players still say that they believe in Koach all the way.
And if the candy coated dreams of fans could all come true
We’d have a lot of linemen, linebackers and safeties, too
Throw in some wide receivers, true believers and a kicker or two.
And while you’re at it, how about a clone of Pat White..Ooh!
But the truth is, we won’t get all that
Maybe a couple of guys who’ll wear a Cardinal hat
On signing day.
4 or 5 star prospects we all pray.
And whatever the Rutgers game should bring
Be assured Tom Jurich won’t change a thing
Cause it’s rebuilding time
And a 5-7 record isn’t a crime.
So enjoy those trips on the road next year
To Lexington and the Mountaineers
And the warm Tampa Bay
Or the place where the Huskies play.
We may get kicked around…and lose all four…
But there is one thing we know for sure
It’s the Cards golden rule…
Don’t you know we’re a basketball school?

Moderator Here: More great work from Sonja. The part about being a basketball school stings a bit for fans who have invested so much time and resources into the football program, recognizing that football success is integral for maintaining national respect for a university’s overall athletic program.

Volleyball Conference Champs: The women’s volleyball team may have something to say about that, too, after winning the Big East Conference tournament Sunday.
Jana Matiasovska’s 21 kills and career high six blocks earned her the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as she led the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over Notre Dame for the University of Louisville’s second tournament crown in three years..
The Cardinals (18-10) earn the Big East’s automatic bid and will make their 11th straight NCAA appearance and their 19th overall.

When you are the 7th ranked BBall school
OF ALL TIME
out of 337 Div 1 ’s
you CAN say it, and not demean any other school sport..

Shorthand in my opinion for saying a school doesn’t have a good football program. U of L needs both.

Nice job Sonja. A happier ending would have been nice but a funny song nevertheless.

Funny. Made me smile. Unusual for a Monday.

Maybe a new fight song for the irritated Louisville fans?

You guys might never admit it but Petrino was an ass, getting what he wanted through intimidation and ignoring problem children. Coach Stewart said after the game that Louisville had chances to injure Pat White but didn’t do it. He implied that that would not have happened under Petrino.

Big Eers,
About everything you can imagine has been said, discusssed, rumored and mentioned about the Petrino years since he left. I imagine the same…maybe to a lesser extent is going on up in Morgantown after Rich Rod became a “Yankee” and went to Michigan.
Despite the way Petrino handled things, and everything else you hear about the Petrino era…a lot of fans only remember the wins, the bowl trips and the fun we had in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium…and they miss that. Fan opinion and sentiment being what it is…the decision still rests with Tom Jurich, and ultimately Kragthorpe, too.
BTW…say “Hi!” to “Huggs” for me…I think he tried to look up my skirt one afternoon in Freedom Hall quite a few years back.

Shocking!!!! Surely not the Huggie.

Charlie,
It was at a UofL v UC game a few years back and we had gotten really good seats from a couple who we know who had gone to Fla., so there we were several rows behind the UC bench. I swear I got that look and a slight smile from the “Hugs” early in the game. He got a little ballistic later on in the game
(imagine that!)and quit looking at me. Paul still claims he was looking at him, sizing him up as a potential wing player recruit. Guys and their egos…jeez.

For those that have convinced himself that our football program needed rebuilding, Eric Crawford to the rescue!

We had a few chances to injure Pat White?
We couldn’t even catch him! What were we going to do, trip him on the way to the huddle or locker room or airport? Preposterous!
