Schedule may include Indiana, Florida International, Pikeville
Rick Pitino seemed to be putting together pieces of the 2012-13 schedule while wrapping up the recent season during his Monday press conference.
Watch for the schedule to include Florida International University a second year in a row, along with Pikeville University and, quite possibly, a renewal of an oft-interrupted series with Indiana University.
Pitino confirmed that his son, Richard, will be assuming the reins at FIU. “He’s very excited and quite sure of himself,” he said. “We may have to get him in here.”
Elisha Justice will be transferring to Pikeville next season. “He came come back here and collect his Final Four ring,” said Pitino. “If he wants to gets into coaching, we’ll certainly help when the time comes.”
The Louisville coach also indicated that he and Tom Crean are likely to talk this summer about renewing the UofL-Indiana series. They haven’t met in basketball since the 2001-02 season.
The 2012-13 season is shaping up to be a fun one. Already booked is a trip to the Bahamas for the first Battle 4 Altantis invitational, Nov. 23-25, which includes Duke, Missouri, Memphis, Virginia Commonwealth, Minnesota, Stanford and Northern Iowa.
