The sixth-ranked soccer team lost to lowly Cincinnati?

The biorhythms have dipped downward for University of Louisville athletics in the past couple of weeks, with a series of disconnected and unexpected events that would sober any fan:

— Accusations about lacrosse coach Kelly Young.

— Chane Behanan dismissed from the basketball team.

— The loss to Central Florida in football.

— The NCAA show cause penalty on Clint Hurtt and the controversy following Tom Jurich’s decision to retain him.

— The weirdest of all, a Mississippi miscreant (alias Melinda White) attempts to extort $3.5 billion from the UofL Athletic Department. Who uses email to do that (outside of Nigeria)?

Unfortunately, some of the turmoil could be interpreted to have been self-inflicted, depending on one’s inclination. Hopefully, there’s an impenetrable shield protecting the baseball and women’s basketball programs from being disrupted by the latest crap storm.

UofL football could begin the recovery process by turning things around Saturday.
