Pick Brian Brohm First Round
The NFL scouts aren’t very good at their craft if Brian Brohm is not picked in the first round this weekend. That’s putting it nicely. It would be more accu
rate to say there are a bunch of idiots running the show if he is not selected before the second round.
Any college coach that has competed against the University of Louisville in the last four years can attest to his quarterbacking skills. Give Brohm an open target, he’ll hit it 99% of the time. He understands the game, having prepared for a professional football career his entire life.
Frankly, one has to wonder whether the professional pickers have intentionally not been showing all their cards, with Brohm going from a predicted No. 1 pick last season to who knows where this year. That makes no sense. If anything, his value should have improved dramatically last season.
Tipping your hand too early is never good strategy in business or sports. Not picking Brohm would be bad business. Want a winner, pick a winner. The prediction here is that he winds up with the Chicago Bears.
Brohm goes first round or this observer’s esteem for the NFL drops several notches.

Amen Charlie. for Brian not to go in the first round would be laughable. He is a great kid who has worked his butt off - he has size, brains and body for the NFL and he has earned a first round pick - he knows how to play hurt and how to win. What more could any team possibly want?

Charlie, you may have underestimated what geniuses the NFL scouts really are. You might think that a lot of them are former head coaches who are out of work and just waiting for another good gig to open up. Uh….actually, some of them are….but I digress.
Might I ask who was the genius who thought that Alili Smith was the miraculous answer to the Bengals’ prayers in ‘99? After signing for 56 million, Smith told the Cincinnati press that he was indeed the be-all and the end-all for Cincy Super Bowl hopes. (go back and check the Cincinati newpapers.) And of course there’s Ryan Leaf. The scouts really did a super evaluation job on him.
The NFL needs to re-evaluate their evaluation process. Give me a break,,,,some (not all) of them wouldn’t know a great quarterback if he hit them between the numbers in the end zone with a 100mph tight spiral from the other end zone.
