The Chinanu Onuaku drama is finally over, Chinanu delaying his announcement on the NBA until the final hours before the deadline.

Chinanu may have been one of the only persons who wasn’t sure of what he was going to do. Unable to make a decision either way, he ran out of time.

By then, the University of Louisville coaching staff had long decided that he was gone. The only thing missing was a statement and that would be provided to him, saying all the right things:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my two years in Louisville and know that my development as a player and person at UofL is a major factor in where I am today,” he said. “I will miss my teammates, coaches and the great fans, but I will always be a Cardinal.”

Would have been nice to have had Onuaku around for another year, vastly improving UofL’s outlook for the 2016-17 season. But this was about Chinanu and what’s best for him, whether he was able to make a conscious decision or not.
