Monday Morning Memos
To U of L Football Assistants: Prepare for the Rutgers game as if your coaching career depended on one more win. The win must be convincing, too.
To Anthony Allen: Shave the locks; you were better without them. Then pass the clippers to Scott Kuhn. George Stripling is the designated long hair; one per team.
To Trent Guy: Two arms firmly around the ball.
To JaJuan Spillman: Keep going to class if you’re still in school.
To Fair Weather Fans: Get hand warmers and butt warmers for Thursday.
To Basketball Jumpers: Admit it, football is still more fun.
To Conspiracy Fans: Tom Jurich is not the enemy.

Charles, no way is football more fun than basketball. Basketball is the king of Louisville sports, always has been, and always will be.
GO CARDS!

Not in this observer’s book. While I love basketball, it is monotonous compared to football. There are so many different stories and role players, much more drama and color on the gridiron.

Your football “fetish” over BBall– well, it’s your blog
Even when we won the Orange Bowl– I had more magic and thrills with Francisco on their Final 4 run
and 90+% of the fans in this area would be in my camp
but, that’s why blogs are out here…

I doubt that it is 90%. Those who are are in your camp only because the football success didn’t continue after the Orange Bowl. Ask Ohio State, UCLA, Florida fans whether they would rather win a NCAA football or basketball title, they will respond with football. They’ve had both and know which has the greater impact in terms of national respect for their universities.

Yes, but those people are not native Kentuckians, raised on basketball for generations.
You should add a polling feature, so we could see the response. Who knows, it might only be 80% basketball

Monotony in basketball? There’s ~1 minute of dead time between EVERY play in football. It’s telling that my Orange Bowl downloaded from iTunes is 2 hours 27 minutes long (147 minutes), but that the “Short Cut,” which only shows the plays, and not the dead time, is just 24 minutes long! That’s a 6:1 ratio of dead time to action. Yeah basketball may have too many timeouts, but I find it hard to believe that anyone who’s lived through the roar in the ‘Hall when Louisville goes on a big run, and then the opposing team calls timeout, but the crowd remains just as loud when play resumes, thinks that football is more exciting. Basketball is a beautiful fluid dance and a sport of finesse; football is much more raw power.

LOL! I love them both, live and die in March and April just like everybody else.
