AP Poll Jan. 14-2012University of Louisville basketball is indeed ranked No. 1 in this week’s Associated Press poll.

Now come the real tests for this team, how the players are able to handle the recognition and whether they can endure the amplified adrenaline of each and every opponent from here on out.

Great to see Louisville at the top of the heap, even though it could be short lived. Too many good basketball teams out there, the ups and downs of the game, the individuals who play the game, the shortcomings of officiating, so many uncertainties.

Rick Pitino will have plenty to say about it, of course, about not being satisfied, about all the deficiencies and needing to get much better. He hasn’t been smiling much lately, getting under the skin of his players, having been down this road a few times.

UofL’s schedule flight to Connecticut Sunday was delayed until Monday before of foggy conditions at the destination airport, just one of many challenges they will have to overcome.

Not complaining, mind you. No. 1 is good.
