  1. Louisville sports programs seem to have developed the reputation of finding raw talent and developing them into outstanding student-athletes and responsible citizens.

Many have come from harsh home environments such as this video has portrayed about Lorenzo Mauldin. College and professional athletics has become an avenue for implementing social change and upward mobility that far outpaces the larger society.

College programs seem to be a little more progressive in this regard than the professional programs. The University of Missouri’s football program needs to be commended for the way it handled the Michael Sam situation. Professional football not quite as good.

Too, professional football has stumbled and fumbled the ball so to speak by mishandleing and botching the Ray Rice situation.

Still, college and professional athletics are light years ahead of the larger society and Congress and many state governors and legislators considering their attempts to return women to a chattel status.
