Lady Cards Win Opener
Becky Burke tossed in a three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining to put the University of Louisville women’s basketball ahead to stay and Monique Reid added a free throw as the Lady Cards defeated Dayton 65-63 in their season opener.
After a 30-30 halftime score, the Cards fell behind and actually trailed 60-53 with 4:50 to go.
Reid led the Cards with 18 points, 14 rebounds. Freshman Asia Taylor contributed 10 points and some strong offensive moves.
Ashley Rainey and LaToya Johnson fouled out for the Lady Cards, who were without the services of Nikki Burton (back injury) and Laura Terry (knee).
