Fans who dismiss women’s basketball as all sweetness and light (or even boring, Wes) need to get out more, see what is happening on the court. Angel McCoughtry, Chauntise Wright, Candyce Bingham, Patrika Barlow and company survived a near mugging to defeat Providence 82-57 Tuesday evening. Since when is throwing a deliberate elbow to another player’s face not a foul? For the gory details, read Sonja’s exclusive report for Card Game.

    Charles,

Most people don’t dismiss it as sweetness and light. Most people dismiss it because it’s slower, lower-scoring, and generally much more boring than men’s basketball.

How anyone could be bored when there’s a team out there with Louisville on the uniform is beyond me. The women’s game is light years ahead of where it was just a couple of years ago. Maybe letting the brutal stuff go is a way of increasing interest? I hope not.

This is the first year I have been on a consistent bases to the women’s games and I can say they have been just as enjoyable as the men’s games. Our programs have come a long way. Nothing boring about our girls games - putting up 82 points is not a low scoring game and no boredom involved there.

Clarence, do I know you? :) With the recruiting class coming in, it will keep getting better.
