Kenny Klein, sports information director at the University of Louisville, took a few moments before Charlie Strong’s press conference Monday to address issues arising from a Courier-Journal story on the lacrosse program:

  • A dozen players leaving the program over a three-year period isn’t unusual for a program with 30 players. One left for academic deficiencies, another for personal reasons. He noted that 10 players had left the baseball program over a similar period.
  • Confirmed from a number of sources that no players were required to do 250 pushups. In addition, he said pushups are largely an upper body exercise.
  • Issued a reminder that the University is prohibited from commenting about some disciplinary situations because of privacy concerns.
  • Didn’t like the writer’s overall approach to the article.
