A surprise visitor showed up during a football signing day party back in February.

Wild applause rippled through the old Parrish House across the street from Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium when Jack Coffee announced that a special guest had arrived.

Down the aisle strolls a smiling Keith Brown, a four-star linebacker prospect from Miami Nordland High School. Close behind him are two other talented newcomers, James Burgess and Gerod Holliman. The future was bright indeed.

Ten months later Brown has been named a first team freshman All-American by FoxSports.net He’s the second freshman at UofL to earn All America honors since Teddy Bridgewater was picked on several teams last season.

Brown played in nine games for the Cardinals and was one of the team leaders with 56 tackles, and also forced and recovered a fumble this season. He registered 12 tackles in his first career start against Pitt and added a career-best 13 tackles in an overtime-win over Cincinnati.
