Good news on the Jeff Walz front.

The University of Louisville women’s basketball coach’s contract has been extended for two more seasons, keeping him here through the 2018-19 season.

Walz already had a five-year deal, which included a roll-over clause automatically renewing his contract every year. The reworking of the contract included the addition of a retention bonus if he stays for four years and an additional bonus if he sticks around for the length of the revised contract.

He assumed the reins of the UofL program in 2007 and has compiled a 119-56 won-lost record and four trips to the NCAA tournament, including the championship game in 2009.

His objective is a national championship.
