Katina Powell, the stripper and hooker who contorted in the University of Louisville basketball dorm over a period of four years, is eager to tell everybody she knows about her role in the scandal involving the program.

Everybody that is except for those entities in a position to act on her allegations or her crimes.

Powell has been appearing left and right on radio and TV talk shows, believing those appearances will help to promote the sale of the book, Breaking Cardinal Rules. By the latest count, she has landed at least six interviews.scales

She admits she purportedly did everything she did was for the money. She’s out there promoting the book for the money. Her reputation, the effect of her actions on her children, the damage to the UofL basketball program, all these things are secondary to the money.

Powell, however, is not speaking directly with anyone in an official capacity to act on allegations that she was paid to perform for some UofL players and recruits. Powell wants immunity from prosecution before she agrees to talk to the NCAA, the University or anyone in the judicial system.

Larry Wilder, her Jeffersonville attorney, is obviously concerned about Powell’s admission in the book that her daughters were under age at the time. Some players or recruits may also have been under age when the alleged events occurred.

Powell obviously loves being the center of attention, seeing her name turn up in Google searches, in the headlines, and on daily radio and TV news. What she apparently doesn’t grasp, however, is that the official parties are paying close attention to the interviews.

More than likely, the NCAA and UofL have already uncovered enough facts to draw conclusions about the case. They shouldn’t need or want much more information from Powell. Every time she opens her mouth, she contradicts herself or adds to the confusion surrounding the case. Infractions obviously occurred, and the only uncertainty is the level of punishment for the program and how soon that occurs.

As for Powell, she should be very concerned her parental failings. Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Wine has said that if his office receives credible evidence for crimes involving children, they will vigorously pursue prosecution. The more Katina Powell talks, the more ammunition she provides and the uglier it could get for her.

  1. Hey Charlie,

You sound as if you are dead sure that this is all doom and gloom, and that her alleged accusations are a point in fact, and beyond question. Is it not possible that U of L could be completely innocent of any wrongdoing? We don’t know both sides of the road yet, just her ravings of possible delusions. Has any of the players said that they had sex with anyone (for money?) There is too much to find out before kneejerk reactions go rampant as your article seems to be doing.

    1. Just accepting reality, Bill, At least one player has said he had sex. Just takes one to admit that. The point of the post is that Katina Powell is talking her way into possible prison time.
