One of these days spring is going to arrive in Louisville. Probably the day after Derby Day.

By then the cold, nasty weather will have pretty much had its way with cold-natured fans at home games for the University of Louisville baseball team.  Most of the 1,500 of new chair backs have been used sparringly, the conditions have been so awful. Screen Shot 2013-04-28 at 8.50.55 PM

After  home games against Western Kentucky University next Tuesday and Indiana the following week, the Cardinals will have only three games remaining at Jim Patterson Stadium.  That will be a series against conference foe Pittsburgh, currently second in the conference.

Six of the nine conference games — against Villanova and UConn — are on the road the next two weekends.

After a three-game sweep of Georgetown Sunday, UofL has a won-lost record of 33-10 overall and is in third place behind South Florida and Pittsburgh in the conference with a league mark of 7-3.

The Big East Tournament play begins May 22, NCAA tournament action May 31.
