Screen Shot 2013-06-07 at 5.41.26 PMWant something to remember Gorgui Dieng by? How about the shoes he was wearing when UofL won its third NCAA basketball championship in April?

Gorgui’s red and gray shoes are up for auction on Ebay at a suggested price of $2,999, with a closing date of July 2nd at 4 p.m. One can pay the suggested price or engage in a “best offer” bidding war for the special footwear.

Described as Derrick Rose adidas split frame style, the shoes are inscribed with the No. 10 on the back of them and include Gorgui’s autograph. They also come with a notary note of authenticity signed by Gorgui on May 3.

The observer started the bidding at 50 bucks, and will keep you updated on how the auction is going.

  1. Hmm.. this seems odd. 3,000 dollars seems a bit steep for a pair of sneakers. He didn’t even say what size they are. How will i know if they even fit? They aren’t smelly are they? Are they comfy?

  2. Very curious sale? How are they Gorgui’s to sell? And, he surely can’t need the money, if he is going to sell them I wish he had chosen to dedicate the proceeds to a charity or the school.

I’m sorry that Zach didn’t feel he had it in him to step up his game, (the way SVT did), I was really pulling for him to fill his own shoes this season. We need one more big now, this season.

  3. Hearing some good things about Mathiang, about the same size as Gorgui was when he arrived. Van Treese will bang with anybody. Montrezl, Behanan, plenty of beef on the front line. Pitino pushing, will get the best out of them like he always has.

  4. I won’t be paying $3k for the shoes, but I am concerned on who will fill them!!!

Zach Price left- seems Pitino doesn’t think this is much of a loss from his quotes, but at least Price was a big guy.

Who do we have to fill the shoes? Mathiang? 6’10” and 200 pounds? Vs someone like Michigan’s McGary- 6’10” 250 pounds? Don’t like that match up. Van Treese could probably hold his own against most teams, but I’m hoping they still land a much-needed big man.

How about Trey Lyles from Indy? What are the odds of him next year?

    Who will fill the shoes?
