Maybe one lightweight too many. We’ll see soon enough.

Basketball games against teams like Fairleigh Dickinson would be a waste were it not for an opportunity to see our old friend George Goode. What he might have been capable of with more playing time. But 17 points and 12 rebounds?

George is getting what he wanted, more playing time. Everybody associated with the University of Louisville wishes him well, as evidenced by all the hugs and smiles.

  • Peyton Siva appears to be getting back up to speed, regaining his handle on those lay ups. Nice to see some of three-point attempts going in for a change, three to be exact. But what’s up with those leggings?
  • Against lesser competition, Gorgui Dieng is making strides on those post moves. Let’s hope it carries over into games that are meaningful.
  • Kyle Kuric is never quite as impressive during the pre-conference season, probably because his teammates don’t need need him as much. Their perceptions will be changing soon.
  • Jared Swopshire in those big shoes, seemingly plodding aimlessly up and down the court. Seems to have shifted into neutral again.

The most impressive showing at the KFC Yum! Center Saturday was turned in by Antonita Slaughter, the 6-foot-1 sophomore from Shelbyville, in the Lady Cards’ 92-27 win over Gardner Webb. She hit seven of nine three-point attempts, leading all scorers with 23 points and six rebounds.
