Calm down, guys.

Game day for the University of Louisville vs. Auburn University is finally about to happen. Seems like it has been forever since this game was scheduled a couple of years ago.

The anticipation is palpable as time to kick off the 2015 season, with the enthusiasm for UofL football continuing to reach new levels. Enjoy every moment. There are only 12 games during the regular season, and the time passes quickly.

No opening day patsies for the next few seasons, those days are over. Have to be ready to line up against tradition-rich programs from day one. Prove one’s worth, earn immediate respect or take some lumps and regroup.

UofL fans wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thousands of them, an estimated 30,000 of them, in a massive tailgate party on wheels making their way to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic. Red and black car flags fluttering in the breeze, more UofL license plates that one can count, and a 350-mile convoy on wheels converging this weekend at the Georgia Dome.

Louisville fans already have an affinity for the Georgia Dome, the scene of UofL’s third national championship in basketball. Lots of special memories already in that stadium, and they’re eager to add still a few more. This particular event the equivalent of having a bowl game to kick off the season.

Go raise some hell, Card fans.
