Lisa Kelly, a Notre Dame graduate, was this year’s winner of Volvo’s Biggest Fan of the Big East contest, pitting alumni from 16 conference member schools in a competition employing social media tools and a fan poll.
She succeeds U of L fan Steve Springer, last year’s winner. The grand prize a trip to the Big East Tournament championship game, a $35,000-plus Volvo S-60 and a $10,000 contribution to her school. The U of L rep was Timothy Johnstone (@cardinal laws) at Cardinal Laws.
Interestingly, Kelly received only 3% of all votes in the fan poll. Competitors from St. John’s and Villanova had 46% and 43%, respectively. Volvo really meant it when it said all portions of the contest are considered equally. Much to the chagrin of some well-intentioned late night voters.
