Bobby Petrino the benefactor. Bobby Petrino the football coach.

Both sides were on display at Kosair Children’s Hospital Thursday as the Petrino Family Foundation announced a $1 million gift to the hospital to add a trauma room at the hospital, the only Level One Pediatric Trauma Center in the state.  The coach and his family have been involved with the hospital since Petrino’s first stint as UofL coach.

With all the ties the coach has to the community, it’s probably about time the coach gets a break from the doubters. The father of two UofL graduates and a son currently pursuing a business degree at Sullivan. A man who received personal and professional assistance from James Ramsey and Tom Jurich at one of the lowest points in his life. The University and the city have done a lot for him.

And he’s giving back to the community, giving 100% of his endorsement money to the foundation, for children at Kosair, for UofL scholarships and student activities, such as the UofL Marching Band. Giving back in a big way.

  1. Congrats and thanks to the ‘new Bobby.’ Best wishes from here on out.
However…here’s hoping his offense is still merciless!
