Basketball Attendance

The University of Louisville basketball team moves to the new KFC Yum Center in November 2010, a facility seating more than 22,000 fans.

Previously, U of L played at Freedom Hall, starting in 1956. The arena served as the site of six NCAA Final Fours, including 1958, 1959, 1962, 1963, 1967 and 1969.

When Freedom Hall opened in 1957, the seating capacity was 16, 613 and was considered the state of the art. The facility was renovated in 1984 with capacity expanded to almost 19,000 seats. The $13 million renovation included the addition of 24 luxury boxes and a $1 million scoreboard.

U of L will move to a new $236 million downtown arena beginning the 2010-11 basketball season with a capacity of 22,000 seats and 84 luxury boxes.
